Ship's log AVM - March 2013

Dear friends,

long long time no read. We apologize but we've been hella busy working on our Spring 2013 releases. Also, this site is sort of under construction, getting ready for a reboot very soon making it possible for us to get some news out into the world on a much more frequent basis. Long story short - here's what we've been up to:

AVM046 | URBAN HOMES - Centres LP/CD/Digital (out now!)

"Comprising members of PTTRNS, Yage and Airpeople, Urban Homes are a collective of musicians from Cologne's experimental avant-electronica and progressive rock scenes. And the foursome have arrived at the overtly dancefloor-directed sound of debut EP, 'Centres' ... one of 2013's potential hidden treasures."

AVM048 | BUKE AND GASE - General Dome LP/CD (out now!)

"...General Dome is a fabulous ride whether you know the first thing about their extreme DIY approach or the life experience that fed into it, from Arone Dyer's career as a bike mechanic to Aron Sanchez's stint building instruments for the Blue Man Group. Buke and Gase are masters of a domain they built themselves. The record suggests there are new sounds left to be tapped in pop, even if we have to tap them by finding new paths to timeless sensations."

AVM049 | PTTRNS - Body Pressure LP/CD/Digital (due April 12th 2013)

Body Pressure is party music: it has strong, propulsive grooves, and good, entertaining songs; but it is also a self-aware attempt to build a community of feeling against a cold and uncaring world, and at the same time a critical acknowledgement of that gelidity and indifference. Few musical utterances speak the subject as concretely and as erotically as singing, but the particular form of the vocal delivery on Body Pressure serves to undermine its specificity: because it evokes so clearly the sound of a specific era, and because those stylistic tropes encode an emotional distance and disconnection, the voice seems to belong to a body of practice as much as it does to an individual, for all that the performances are impassioned and committed. The same observation could be made of the album as a whole; it's a sincere and heartfelt piece of work, which effaces the traces of its own creators. Equal parts pitches, rhythms and instants.

AVM050 BRR - Selftitled BOOK+7' / Digital (out now!)

Brr is a collaboration between Ryan Dodgson and Moshe Rozenberg. In this, their first collaboration, they present ten conversations using three mediums interdependently. The dialogue that takes place between these mediums creates an animate, immersive environment and fragments the viewer / listner's association between the inseparable text, sound and image. This limited artist's multiple comes to you in the form of a book-and-record set. This edition, limited to 350 copies worldwide is published conjointly by Altin Village & Mine Records (Europe) and Itchy Roof (USA / Canada). It is celebrated as a 50th release milestone for Altin Village & Mine.
